Brighton University is very welcoming and the campus is situated close to the city centre with lots of public transport access. It is, however, a very expensive place to live especially with housing and accommodation. Lecturers are very supportive and, in my experience, will organise 1-2-1 meetings to go over content if required/requested. The uni also has great support concerning job applications (for undergraduate and graduate roles). Some uni buildings could do with a bit of renovation but the newer buildings have great facilities.

My course so far has been entirely in-person, which is, in my opinion, much more rewarding than online. Lectures are spread out fairly evenly across the week and usually there is one day left free which is great for catching up or doing extra reading. Each semester there are usually labs to get involved with. Some are assessed and some are just a useful addition to theory learnt in lectures to solidify knowledge. On the course, there is also opportunity to get hands-on with software (SolidWorks) and the workshops and machines. When looking to apply to placements/internships, the uni placements team has been incredibly helpful throughout the process (from CVs and applying to interviews). The content of the course is engaging and coursework and group projects allow for the development of key skills. Sometimes, lectures are long (3 hours), but the lecturers give breaks throughout.

My halls were in a perfect location, just 2 minutes from the Moulsecoomb campus. I shared the flat with 5 others (shared kitchen, toilets and showers). The room was nice with a sink in the room which was really useful. There were issues with heating, hot water and water pressure, but these got fixed in time. Broken appliances got repaired quickly (the toaster, the induction hob and the hoover). In my opinion, the halls was too expensive for what it was, especially since it is now about £20-£40 a week cheaper after renovation from when I was there (I believe it is now private uni accommodation). Cleaners cleaned the toilets and kitchen once a week and bins were taken out twice a week (which could have been done more frequently considering the number of people living there and how small the bin was).

UoB is an amazing place to study at as it has so many support for its student outside academic support e.g it has many places where you can go and study in silence or reflect at e.g. the library is one of them and other places like in Huxley building. Moreover the library is very big and has many PCs for the hundreds of students on campus. Plus, the university has a skills hub where student can access maths, writing reports, and writing service support where students can send their work to be checked and be given feedback on their work. The university also has a careers and employability team which is my favourite as I personally found it very helpful and crucial and whenever you would like support in your CV, Cover Letter, interview tips, application support you can book a meeting online or in-person and chat about your enquiry. The university offers loads of activities and offers every week for its student; the university also provides regular talks about tips for placements/internships for its students e.g. what skills you will need to get a placement and what skills you'll achieve in doing a placement, how to make CV for a placement opportunity and students can book these talks online through Careers Connect. Plus, the uni also provides a range of fairs for its students so they can build connections and network with a variety of companies and to get used to talking to potential employers e.g. the uni provided part-time jobs fair, placement and internship's fair; careers fair and found all of them useful as I've went to all of them and made a connection with a company. Finally, the university has a range of facilities including dining, toilets; support.

I believe that the UoB offers great courses e.g. for Aerospace Engineering we do 6 modules and these modules are very useful for our engineering career as these modules introduce us to the different tools we need e.g. to use industry software's like solidworks, excel; matlab. Moreover, we do loads of group/team work such as working on problem, making a water rocket, doing a rocket race; presenting in front of lecturers and students with our respective groups has enhanced my communication skills, leadership skills, work management; have fun. However, I'd love if we had more hours with lecturers for certain modules as it is sometimes difficult to understand a question and if there are more hours I can ask my personal questions. Lastly, the university provided us a range of workshops e.g. I did welding, electronic; mechanical workshops where I gained experience into how to use some machines like arc welding, spot welding, oxyacytylene welding, drilling and milling machines, soldering, lathe.
