The university is very friendly from the students to the lecturers, there is a large range of support from technical to mental. We study a large range of acting styles throughout the year and are always graded fairly on what we show during an assignment. The kingsway campus is located a 30 minute walk away from UoC’s main campus and currently doesn’t have a shuttle bus which is unfortunate but the university are currently looking in to this, however the walk is lovely and does feel very safe.

Currently we are still operating on a blended learning course however more lectures are moving to being taught in person again. This year all of my theory section of the course has been taught in person and the practical modules have been taught through a mix of in person and online with any non practical lectures within the module have been delivered online. In second year and third year you can choose 1 or 2 optional modules to take along side the mandatory modules for these years, some of these include musical theatre, directing, dissertation, negotiated studies and more, when you choose these modules at the end of your first and second year your lectures will offer their support and you can book meetings with them to discuss the modules and what might be the best choice for you.In third year your mainly left to your own devices to work on your dissertation or negotiated studies work however you are given a supervisor which you can reach out to at anytime you also have a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) who you can schedule meetings with whenever you want if you feel you need any extra support. Most lectures are pretty flexible and are willing to sit down and have a meeting with you over either their moduel content or any other queries you may face.

Chester is a lovely city it’s not too big like those of Liverpool, manchester or london but it’s also not too small, there’s a whole range of things to do like take a walk along the walls or by the canals, take a boat ride along the river Dee weather that’s by paddle boat, swan boat or tourist boat, there’s the story house a small cinema and theatre which also houses a library and restaurant/bar and the brand new chester market filled with fantastic food places and small shops, how about visiting an escape room or two or even exploring the city’s history.

I’m my first year I stayed in a university owned property called scotia house which was located a five minute walk off campus. The house was in a good location it was a 15 minute walk from the city centre and was fairly quiet. It was a self catered accommodation which meant it was Cheaper than other accommodations the university had to offer however this did not mean it was worse or not looked after. The university responded in a timely manner to any problems we had with the house, we had weekly cleaning in all communal areas however we had to take our own bins out to the nearest university bins location which was a short walk away. The rooms were large and had all that was needed, no en-suite rooms which was fine as we had two bathrooms one upstairs and one downstairs so one was always available.

It’s been fun and hard at times because it’s a big change and I’ve been missing home. But I feel like I’m making a difference and can’t wait to see what else my university has in store

My course is very compact the hours are long and then all of the workload is big so I have no time to myself Timetable always changing makes it hard to get a job I love the lectures and the many opportunities they give up
