The Library and study support sessions based in the library are very useful. More plugs in the classrooms to charge laptops during long lectures would be good

The tutors are very knowledgeable and bring in experts from industry to speak to us. The whole course is in person which is the best way to learn. If possible organising more site visits as we are a construction based course.

Best: Being in student halls first year of university was very nice. I really enjoyed living in accommodation. I lived in an en-suite room which was nice in terms of privacy. Moving away from home I felt like this was the best option as I wasn’t willing to share bathrooms with someone I didn’t know. Living in halls taught me to be independent which also helped in second year where I decided to rent a house with some friends. Arranging all the bills and rent was very confusing at the beginning but it makes a lot of sense now. Another great experience was making friends. I am very grateful for the friendships I made over the last year or so. There are a lot of activities and societies that you can join which helps with socialising. Union is also very good for socialising and just for having fun. One of the best things about uni is that it allowed me to prepare for job applications and interviews. With the help of the careers advisor team I was able to secure a placement at one of the top accountancy firms which I am very excited for. Worst: For me personally there isn’t a lot. One thing is that I miss being home however I don’t live far away so when I feel like it, I can just get the train back home. Socialising through the societies definitely helped with this!

Due to Covid in the first year of uni, all my lectures were online which I really liked because I felt like that I can stop the recorded videos whenever and rewatch them when needed. However in the second year all my lectures are in person. At first I didn’t like this because I felt like I was always behind and that the lecturer was going too fast. But overtime I actually started like the in person lectures more as it felt more real. I learnt how to take notes more effectively and if I did miss something the lectures were uploaded online so I could always go over them if needed. Overall I really like my course, I think the assessments/ exams are in a good ratio. One thing that I didn’t enjoy is group projects, I think there should be allocated workshops specifically for group projects as some people didn’t really put enough effort in and still got the same grade.

Most: It was en suit so I had my own bathroom. I also liked the fact that it was on campus, very convenient location. It was an all girls hall which I really appreciated because I felt more comfortable. The other thing that i really liked was that whenever we had a problem the help desk was always available to help.
