Friendly lectures

Great location

The buildings are well equipped for the size of lecture groups and there are a good amount of study spaces around campus, so there is always somewhere to sit, even when it's busy. There is a good amount of libraries, and they are all of a good size, so even in exam season, there will be a space to sit, and if you're lucky, you'll also get a charging point. The SU is outstanding - the facilities, the events, the club nights, the accessibility for Society committee members and the range of Societies available to join are all amazing.

The majority of my course this year has been taught in class, face-to-face. From spending the first two years of my degree in COVID, having a year full of face-to-face teaching has been a big change, but I feel it is definitely more beneficial. However, the lectures/tutorials are recorded each time, and yet the lecturers still say that attendance is mandatory. I prefer to take lectures at my own pace and take notes alongside, and sometimes when you attend the lectures, the lecturers talk far too quickly to make notes, or don't explain themselves very well. The lecturers also tend to change the desk of slides before the lecture, and do not give us access to those - I like to have the slides on my own laptop and add notes to those, so when the lecturers show slides that I don't have, it is then more time-consuming and difficult to make notes.

The halls I stayed in where cheap, and the state of the building reflected this accurately. There was a decent amount of mould in the bedrooms and the kitchen, and the maintenance staff were never very helpful when we reported this to them. The bedrooms were small, but they had a good amount of storage space.
