How will your manager or director in storage and warehousing career progress?

You’ll be able to shape your career development by working across different industries, employers or specialist areas.

You may start as an assistant warehouse manager or supervisor. You could work your way up to management and senior management levels within that company, or you may choose to move across different sites or organisations to broaden your experience and find new opportunities. You might decide to move into related sectors such as logistics.

Self-employment isn’t generally an option unless you start your own storage or logistics business.

What opportunities are there for career development?

Training in this role depends on the size of your employer. Larger companies often develop their staff through graduate schemes or in-house training pathways.

Getting certificates through NEBOSH or IOSH is usually needed to work in many warehouse management roles to make sure working conditions are safe.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport also offers a range of qualifications and training opportunities that are valued by employers.
