As a freight forwarder, you’ll work on behalf of various companies worldwide and manage the importing or exporting of goods and materials for them. Your IT and logistics skills could see you working across sectors like shipping, air freight and rail transportation. You might work for a firm that focuses on one product type or region, or for a large company with global operations.
You’ll be responsible for planning shipping schedules and routes, managing the packaging and organisation of the goods to be shipped, overseeing contracts, finances and fees, managing paperwork and arranging for the insurance of goods.
