Best part is how close all the university facilities are to each other which makes it really easy to get to and from places. Worst part is perhaps that there is not enough space in the library for when you want to study alone and in quietness

Online teaching is awful, I never learn anything so when it stopped it was great. Lecture halls are a decent size enough so that you can hear everything yet not be cramped Lecturers email regularly to keep in contact.

The most about halls is the gated community that it is in, makes it very safe and there are loads of other houses there filled with students to interact with. Worst part is probably the university heating and how cold the rooms were.

I have only been here 2 months and I absolutely love it. There’s such an emphasis on student m wellbeing from all perspectives. Staff are very friendly and supportive and take the time to make sure that students understand content. The library is a great place to study but it tends to be very busy so getting a seat can be a little difficult sometimes. The students union is also great, there’s always something to do and the societies are also very inclusive and there really is something for everyone. The quality of lecture material is also great. It goes into a lot of detail but in a progressive way in that it feels like the content is introduced to us quite gently so that big concepts are built up to so that there is a generally good understanding. I also found that assignment help is really great, lecturers are always happy to help with any questions and make sure we feel comfortable to ask absolutely anything, it is reinforced that there is no such thing as a stupid question. The only issue i’ve found is that the temperature is never consistent, sometimes it’ll be too hot and other times we have to wear gloves in lectures it’s so cold, however when we ask staff to turn the heating up (especially at the help desk) they tell us they can’t do anything about it and to bring a blanket into uni. Overall, I have really enjoyed myself at YSJ so far.

My course is delivered in person. In semester 1, we have covered 4 modules, 2 of which are 10 credit, lasting 6 weeks each and the other 2 are 20 credit meaning that they run for the whole semester (12 weeks). Weekly in-person hours are 5.5 hours worth of lectures (two 2 hour lectures and one 1.5 hour lecture), 2 hours of seminars (1hr each) and a 1.5 hour workshop in semester 1 (total of 9 hours). there are also reading tasks to aid understanding of weekly content. Lecturers ask that when we contact them, we give them 2 days to respond but they almost always respond before.

I honestly don’t think we should be paying £180 a week. It’s an all bills included en suite but the room is quite small in block C. I have stayed in halls previously with the exact same layout and facilities and it was only £140 which i think is much more reasonable. When I first got here I found that my blind was broken and my bathroom light which is on a sensor never turns off which can be annoying at night. My heating also doesn’t really work and my room is always cold, which I have found to be the same for my flatmates. my door also doesn’t shut properly and it is hard to lock. Furthermore, for accomodation with over 100 flats (with 4/5 rooms in each, there are only 7 washing machines and to do a wash and a dry is costs over £5.
