Warwick University is a lively and welcoming campus which really makes everyone feel welcome and part of a community. The location is well-situated near Coventry and Leamington Spa, but this can sometimes be a little frustrating if you just want to pop somewhere as you need to take a bus journey to get anywhere in the local vicinity, except Cannon Park and Canley. There are lots of facilities on offer at the University, especially for Arts students in the Faculty of Arts Building which is a lovely study space - but other amazing study spaces are available at the university too, including the library, the Oculus building and coffee shops. Student life is lively on campus, though with one club night a week (sometimes two), it can sometimes be a bit quiet in terms of nightlife - though this doesn't bother me, and there's plenty going on with events during the day and through societies. Student support is adequate at the University - there could be a better support network between students, lecturers and University staff to try and provide more of a dialogue when needed.

BA English Literature at the University is one of the best English courses that could be on offer around the country. As a first-year, I have been plunged into the study of English with such a wide-ranging degree, ranging from the Greek epics right up to contemporary literature published just last year, with everything from Medieval and Early Modern literature to literature post-1800 in between. Largely, tutors are lively and engaging, and postgraduate teachers are also engaging and allows for a breath of fresh air into the department. My one complaint is the lack of contact time we have with our tutors - while 9 contact hours is probably enough in terms of study as we have lots of additional work to do on top, the University could provide better opportunities for tutor office hours, which often only happen for one or two hours a week and this can often clash with other lectures, meaning your only contact to tutors is via email, which can be unreliable - this is frustrating when you are trying to complete an assignment or readings. The facilities on offer are fantastic, though some lecture halls that have been allocated this year are too small for the amount of people on each module.

I stay in block 9 of Sherbourne (which is one of the new blocks) and I have very little problems with the block. For me, the location is perfect - it is around a 12 minute walk from central campus facilities such as the Library, Students' Union and Faculty of Arts building but I quite enjoy this walk and it also means I am located in a quieter part of campus. The only problem is that the walk to Tesco and Aldi is very long, so try and make this a once-weekly chore! On the plus side, the gym is located just a 2-minute walk away. Sherbourne is situated in a quiet area and the rooms are fresh and modern, with enough storage space and a very good en-suite bathroom. I have sometimes had problems with the showers becoming clogged or blocked, but maintenance usually sort this out swiftly. The university try to allocate rooms and flatmates based on a survey you fill out beforehand and this has led to me being in a flat with nice, like-minded people largely.
