The students union always make students feel included and supported, through both events and signposting mental health resources provided by the uni. For example, the Centre of Well-being. However, the university could be improved by making things more affordable for students (on campus), for example Simply Fresh and the coffee shop.

Lecturers always make students feel supported and offer office hours to discuss work and essays. However, there could be more focus on what you can do with your Sociology degree after university and more interactive seminars (in some modules).

The location of University Court is perfect because you can access all campus facilities very easily- all in walking distance! The rooms were good value for money but when I moved in they were not renovated and felt a bit dated.

It's located in a nice part of Surrey, with good transport links (especially rail, making it easy to get to Reading or London in a reasonable timeframe). If you are hoping for good nightlife this is not the Uni to choose, it's quite quiet. The Uni differs from most that it contains all the things you will need in the Campus, including restaurants, groceries, ect, so you don't have to venture to the town centre all the time. However the buildings are quite bland, apart from the nearby church it looks like your average modern, dull site. Facilities on the inside are good from what I've seen and used though. They have a wide selection of lecturers, all of them to a good standard. They do provide good support.

Lecturers are good. However in some instances it can be quite frustrating, as some will read out the PowerPoint slides and not go further than that, which seems like a waste of time and money. Thankfully this only applies to a small minority of lecturers, the rest are brilliant - especially the likes of Dr Birch, Dr Tian, ect - who ensure to engage the class by directly asking questions for us to answer, and also keeping things in good spirits by cracking a few jokes and making the class feel a bit more enjoyable. There are good facilities. Materials are OK, lecturers are sometimes a bit inconsistent with how they upload some materials. For example, Fluid Mechs had all the solutions with workings for tutorials, while Statics did not, which made it much harder to understand how to get the correct answer.

It's good, I like the room and the ensuit provided. It's just expensive, 160£ pw. Although I understand Guildford is a more expensive region, it would be nice if rent could be reduced. I have visited other people who attend other unis and they have much nicer and well-designed accommodation for a lower price than mine. It would be good if the university decided to renovate it soon. Also I have heard from other students in the year above that one building is currently out of commission, I cannot remember the exact reason but it was something to do with fire risks. The university haven't bothered to sort it out over the past couple of years. This can be annoying, as I had applied through clearing and was not initially offered accommodation, I waited a month before I was allocated one room - I'm sure having those extra rooms would have provided much needed capacity, especially when dealing with an influx of students around the clearing time. My tutor was very helpful in getting me this room, as when I had asking the accommodation team they had said no, however when he had asked on my behalf they did find a room. Big thumbs up for support.
