It combines a lot of the best parts of remote university campuses and city campuses; you have a shopping centre and a busy, bustling town 5 minutes away from both university sites, and you also have a beach that you can get to easily on foot. Everybody around is always so friendly because Sunderland is such a tightly-knit community, and there's plenty of opportunities and things to explore even on your own. It's a place where you can never get bored of living in or simply experiencing every single day.

With a course as content heavy and broad as clinical psychology, I originally didn't expect to enjoy all parts of it. Specific areas such as statistics and biological psychology which are less about discussion per se and more about the ingrained, core understandings are presented in a way that makes you enjoy learning about how to work with all of it, and the lecturers do so much for that. Reflecting on my university experience, I've realized there are several key aspects that really enhance what it's like to study here. Networking has also been a highlight; I've met some amazing people, from fellow students to professors and industry professionals, which has opened up numerous doors for me. Campus life has played a huge role in my experience too. Being part of different clubs and participating in events has fostered a sense of community that I truly value. Plus, the support services available, whether academic or mental health-related, have been a lifesaver at times. I can definitely say I've grown as a person through these experiences, learning independence and time management along the way. However, it hasn't all been smooth sailing. The high costs of tuition and living expenses have been a significant burden, often making it hard to focus on my studies without worrying about finances. The workload can also be overwhelming at times, leading to stress and burnout. I've noticed that access to resources, like study spaces and updated materials, can be limited, especially during peak times like exams. Additionally, I've experienced moments of social isolation, particularly when trying to find my place in this large community. I believe there are several ways universities could improve the experience for students. For one, increasing scholarships and financial aid options would help alleviate some of the financial pressures.
