Strathclyde is very welcoming and always open to everyone. I wish the university library was open 24/7 during full term

It mostly all in person which is amazing. I wish there was less contact hours for the course or the same amount on 3/4 main days

A fitness facility membership ( which includes access to the gym, pool, sauna/steamroom, and a wide array of classes) is included with the student accommodation, which has helped my mental health a lot this semester. For one of my classes, the entire reading list was given to us for free (five novels)! Student Union events have been pretty fun and becoming a member of the Erasmus Student Network gets you a lot of discounts. My professors have all been very knowledgeable in their subject areas and have a good understanding of effective andragogy. I will say that during my first week here, there was some difficulty with my online registration which was frustrating to get resolved as responses over email from student support took a long time. Eventually it all got sorted though. I also do not like the StrathApp much; it often crashes but you need it as your student card/library card etc.

My course is taught in-person. Lectures are held once a week for one hour and then seminars are another hour. While the reading lists can be somewhat demanding if you are in all English classes (reading about 3 novels per week), instructors assign very few assignments which frees up more time to read and engage with course content. I have had no issues getting in contact with any of my instructors and they all have very well planned and executed lectures.

Overall my dorm experience has been okay. Having the washbasin in my bedroom has been very convenient. Laundry services are extremely expensive and machines are small. My friend in the flat above me had no heating or hot water and it took maintenance three weeks to fix it. Often maintenance requires access into our bedrooms/flat to do routine 'checks' (ie, windows) but they provide very vague hours within which they could come by (spanning over a number of possible days). All of the temperatures on the oven and stovetop dials have been rubbed off so I find it difficult to know how hot I've set it. The location is perfect, though, to Merchant City and plenty of grocery stores (there's an Aldi just a couple doors down). I'd say it's worth it to live in accommodation, especially as an international student like I am.
