I am nearing the end of my first year here and have had the most amazing time so far. The quality of education that I have received has been really good and I have met the best group of people.

Only thing that could really do with being replaced is the gym and they are promising to do that at some point.

Student support is amazing, can't fault them. They are really understanding, make sure they have time for you. Contact your tutors and lecturers and generally make your life so much easier when you need that extra bit of help, for whatever reason. There is also a really good Nightline that you can call for a chat at night if you need.

There are many societies to join. The union building itself is currently being completely revamped so is brand new and a really good venue.

Although St Andrews isn't your usual massive university city, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It is such a magical place to study. Yeah there aren't loads of clubs, but nights out are great. Start in a bar or pub and then head to the Vic or if you're drunk enough, the Lizard. Or head to a house party - believe me there are lots! It has everything you need during the day, like multiple coffee shops, a beach, a golf course!

There are a whole bunch to choose from. The best thing about the societies though are the events that they put on. These are the best nights out, the balls are such a big part of the St Andrews experience.

There is so much flexibility in the course because you study three subjects in your first two years. If you decide that one isn't for you it is easy to change it at the end of the semester. The lecturers are firm but fair and you have weekly tutorials in which you can ask questions and discuss the subject within a smaller group (usually 10 or so people.)

Getting a degree from a prestigious university puts you in a great place when applying for jobs. St Andrews is currently third in the country, only behind Oxbridge.

This is the only area that could be improved. In your first year you are given university accommodation, all of which is lovely - even if you don't get Sallies, or one of the central ones. I was in DRA and the community here is great, lots of flat parties! Moving out of halls is quite stressful because there are so many students looking for houses in such a small town. Its really advisable to start early and make sure you have good references. Its also quite expensive, especially if you want to live centrally.
