University of Leicester is a great place to study as an international student coming from a melting pot country, Leicester is very diverse and multicultural, you are immersed in a range of wonderful cultures and beliefs. I feel the university does a great job of making you feel welcome as an international student. The opportunities to engage and get involved in the school, student union, etc. is a great way to feel at home! One thing the university can improve on is more engagement with professors and students. I feel there’s a disconnect as students come to class & leave, the opportunities for staff and student engagement could strengthen relationships with students not only during studies, but after studies, to create life long relationships.

My course, the LLM at the University of Leicester is an in-person course that has a class of 20-25 students per module. This structure allows for student interaction, discussions and involvement with the course material. I love how everyone is able to interact and voice their opinions through a set of lecture questions completed every week. Like I said earlier, contact with lectures is there but a lot of students feel lecture hours are very formal and strict timing, if there’s an opportunity for students to interact with professors on an informal level, I think it would strengthen the relationships between students and professors and create a comfortable environment to ask questions and get answers.

The University of Leicester is central and commutable to majority of places around the cities. The food options are local with a diversified selection for students to immerse themselves in. The malls and grocery stores are local as well, so there is really no need for a-lot of transportation, but the option is available and reliable. The Universities location allows for students to enjoy a social life while still being close to home.
