The campus is really lovely and there are many facilities where you can study and chill with your friends! The food outlets are nice, there used to be a nice dessert place however it has recently closed down :(( The town itself (Colchester) is very peaceful and definitely more rural compared to London. There are nice restaurants and places to visit in Colchester. Lots of greenery aswell! Accomodation on campus is really good as you can apply for it no matter what year you are in! You can also request to live with your friends during 2nd year. Cleaners come in to clean the kitchen and corridors and there is a nice sense of privacy and security. There are a range of services that students can use (such as wellbeing, disability support, addiction ...etc.) I personally have not used them but I have heard a lot of good things from other people.

I love my course as it covers a range of topics! We do lab practicals in the STEM building, which is one of my favourite buildings on campus as it is very modern and has a cafe and study spaces too! My tutor is very helpful and I feel supported as a student. Workload can be a lot sometimes, however as long as you keep up to date with your work, it usually turns out fine!

I love how it is so close to the lecture building yet lies on top of the hills, making it feel like I am out of campus and I can chill, yet if I want to go to the library, I can easily walk down and be there in less than 10 minutes. I feel safe as security is very close and that it feels like a community. The accomodation looks like actual houses and the rooms and kitchens are nice. Within South courts, there are some older buildings and some newer, I have lived in Walton and Rowhedge Court - which are both quite similar! Cleaning is good as cleaners come every week to clean the kitchen, however there were problems at the start of the year where some kitchen cupboards were not cleaned properly - so I would suggest just cleaning it down when you arrive, and after that it should be fine. Value of money is okay although it did increase a little bit. Considering that we get WiFi, silver gym membership, maintenance, security...etc. within the rent - it is v good!

Campus has loads of bars, restaurants and a nightclub so it’s nightlife is than most universities and Colchester is both affordable and not too far from Norwich and London by train (both cities have great nightlife). Only downside is that the Ubuntu lab machines are so restrictive that you can’t install new dev tools which can be a real pain. The WiFi in the library is also a bit temperamental.

Foundation year is boringly easy, programming should encompass more of the total workload than it currently does.
