I really enjoy the university of cumbria. The atmosphere itself is just so welcoming, the tutors are friendly (although not always helpful) and ive met some amazing people throughout the whole 4 years. The course I'm on is perfect for my future career needs and most subjects are relevant and engaging. The accomodation is okay unless you miss home, which then it feels like a bit of a cell. There are lots of clubs and societies to involve yourself in and plenty of social opportunities. Placement is a great aspect of my course although sometimes the placement is far away or late to be given. Overall I cant complain with the uni as a whole.

The passion from the lecturers involved with the course programme are extremely passionate about the course content and go above and beyond to provide extra curricular/external opportunities that facilitate a link between academia and the industry. Opportunities that encourage networking, extra learning, internship opportunities and potential career routes. The learning facilities at the university are great and offer enough options with everything you need; including 24 hour access. Unfortunately, there are limited social activities and venues in and around campus. The students union offers near to no groups and do little to encourage a more sociable atmosphere. Understandably, it is a small university, but more could be done to improve this element.

The course is delivered in a very engaging manner, with a diverse approach to teaching. It strikes a balance between an academic and theoretical approach to the subject matters whilst also ensuring the practical elements are encouraged; thus, facilitating a smooth transition between the course and relevant industries. The lecturers' approach creates a great environment to discuss and debate modules beyond the curriculum, applying theory to practice. The course hours are not extensive, although the lecturers are great at offering their time and ensuring availability to discuss any university or other matters.
