The location can not be beaten especially for my course. There is plenty of expert help and advice available along with the required kit you may need to make the most out of the experience. However as it is a small campus the night life is limited and if you don't enjoy drinking/smoking it is hard to make friendships. There has been steps put in place to minimise this however they are still in their early stages

Is the amount of practical time we get is amazing and exactly what we need. When it was online it was difficult as we were learning about outdoor leadership while sitting behind the desk online.

It's in the perfect location for the courses offered. There's the lakes and the mountains in walking distance so you don't need public transport. Everywhere is hiring all the time so it is super easy to get a job.

The WiFi isn't amazing especially if the lectures are online and there is more than 2 laptops trying to connect. However they are modern with on suites which makes life more comfortable

The best aspects of my uni experience have been the courses and I was lucky enough to still have on campus time during the pandemic. One great experience I had was the international orienteering weekend at the beginning of my second year that I had the chance to join. It was great meeting other students from different countries and connecting with them. Also, I live in halls with a mix of English and international students which is great as we enjoy learning about our different cultures. I am grateful as well for having a personal tutor who supports me whenever I need it and will always be listened to and get the help I need. Improvements for me could definitely be made in terms of the equipment we have for sport rehabilitation as it is sometimes outdated and our rooms are fairly small. Furthermore, support for traveling to placement is not given on my course which makes it difficult to find places as Lancaster is fairly small and does not offer lots of places to get placement in. But not everyone has a car or the financial resorts to pay for traveling to placements further away.

Our course is back to full in person studying. We have a lot of practical time where we learn different treatments and techniques and also the theory behind it on the side. The facilities are rather small and eventually not the newest but good enough to be taught the most important things. I spend approximately 10h in class each week divided into two days. Which gives us plenty of time for self directed learning and to work on assignments. The lecturers will always make time for you if you have a question or need some kind of support. Placements at the moment are mostly found by us students ourselves and for me, as an international student, this is harder as I do not have as many resources as often students who grew up around here. This will be changed by the next academic year and we will get placements allocated. We do not get any financial support for traveling to placement which makes it harder on students who do not have a student loan and also live on campus like me.

I love that Lancaster is a small city. The University of Cumbria is based only a 10 minute walk from town which is great for nights out and also to get to the shops. Lancaster is in a good spot where direct trains to the big cities will stop as London, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh which makes traveling and exploring easier. Also, it is great as it is so close to the Lake District and you will love the location if you enjoy being outdoors and going on hikes. As well Morecambe Bay which is only a 30min bus ride away from Lancaster which makes a lovely trip in the summer to get some sun.

Halls on the University of Cumbria Campus in Lancaster are fairly cheap. Most Flats have seven rooms and a shared kitchen and bathroom. Some rooms will have a sink but most do not. There are two disabled access flats on campus. The kitchens are fairly big and have enough room for everyone to enjoy time together. Most rooms have been renovated and updated and are in a good condition.
