Bristol is an amazing city, there are so many cool things to do whatever your interest. It's easy to walk around everywhere as well so it's very convenient to get to uni as it's all so close. The SU offers some really interesting and fun activities for students, allowing them to try out new societies and clubs as well as meet people at social events. They also offer specialised talks on a range of different issues which are very inspiring. They have many different libraries that are well equipped and some that stay open 24/7 for when you really need to study hard. The university professors and lectures are also on the whole very approachable and well learned. However I think the uni could improve by making sure they are treating their staff more fairly, giving them better job security, pensions and paying them more as I have been very affected by strikes during my degree. I have missed lots of seminars and lectures due to this but I am still having to pay the university, which doesn't seem to make sense.

Bristol offers a wide array of different courses whatever your niche specialty. I have been lucky enough to study a wide variety of courses from some very interesting professors. However due to covid and strikes my time here has been very affected meaning many classes have been cancelled last minute or I have had mainly online teaching (in my second year). I also don't have very many contact hours, which I would like to be different. I think that especially when learning languages there should be even more hours for the oral practice of this. My personal tutor hasn't had a very active role in my university career and we only communicate a couple of times a year, so when I was struggling with my mental health I found it difficult to speak to her about it. The lecturers I have had and my dissertation supervisor are all lovely, they have all been very vocal and friendly and encourage students to come and speak with them in their office hours.

The block I stayed in at Badock Hall was relatively clean and the rooms were spacious. However I did not have a basin in my room and had to share a large communal bathroom and shower room with the people on my floor. As I was allocated catered accommodation we only had a small galley kitchen equipped with a kettle and microwave. For times when there wasn't a meal ( during the week no lunch and on weekends no dinner) it was difficult to cook healthy meals for ourselves as we didn't have the equipment. There were also weekly fire drills that became very tedious. It makes sense to have regular ones, but this seemed slightly ludicrous. The food offered in the accommodation was also mediocre and generally quite bland, however they did attempt to cook a range of different global cuisines which was a plus. The meal times were also very early, especially the breakfast which meant that many people often missed it, which seemed like a big waste of food and money for the students. I didn't think it was great value for money due to the food quality and meal times.

I love the area, I have made lots of friends which I didn’t expect as a mature student! I have felt the university to be very welcoming!

I love my subject area though some aspects of the learning I feel need adjusting.

Loved the community aspect, I made some of my best friends from being in halls!
