At first it was very daunting because I didn't know anybody and I got really homesick. After a while people became familiar in lectures and I started to make friends. I have joined some different societies after Christmas because I didn't quite settle into the ones I joined previously. It has really helped me.

There is a really good gym and swimming pool, and a new Student Living room which is a great place to relax, and a large range of libraries and cafes.

My tutor is really helpful and she is always available to email if I have any questions or need support. There is also weekly mental wellbeing sessions in the Life Sciences Department if you want to talk to anyone. There is a service called Nightline where you can ring up and chat if you are struggling.

The SU is ok. There are always lots of events going on and they always encourage you to try new things.

UH is 2 miles from the city but there is a unibus that is very often and convenient. One of the stops is by a big Sainsburys, and it goes all the way to Cabot Circus for shopping.

There is a lot of societies to choose from as well as sports. However, they are quite expensive to join, some memberships are over £50 for the year. The sports practices are also quite late at night. A lot of the sports socs require you to try out for the team and they are all very competitive.

I like when the lecturers give memorable presentations and also trips that we go on. I don't like always having power point slides. Labs are ok, depending on how hands on they are.
