Good security and location, bad maintenance and management

Asides from the University being a Russell group school with great prestige, it is also a welcoming environment. It has a great location that is in between Clifton triangle and the City Center making it very easy for student life and social life (you just need to find the balance 😅). Academically speaking, the University is great. I love the fact that there is an online provision to learn (Blackboard). Personally, blackboard has been of great help to me in replaying lectures and other stuff. There is also study skills which help students boost their academic writing, planning and management skills and just generally helping them thrive academically. However, the tuition fee is quite expensive and the dates of instalments are not too far apart. I think the University can work on either making it more affordable and be considerate enough to give a proper gap between dates especially for MSc international students. I don’t really think it would affect much as the fees will still be paid before the end of the academic year. Also, because most international Masters students stay in the University accommodation, the school should try make it easier for them.

My course is quite interesting. It was a little hard for me at first but blackboard has been of great help as I can always go back to replay the lectures. Even though I don’t blame the lecturers because they have limited time for each topic, I feel like the school should also consider people of different academic background. Some people decide to do a masters in an entirely different background so they lack basic knowledge of some of the units but it is assumed during the lectures that there is a background knowledge and it makes it harder on the student because the student has to do double reading to understand the unit. Generally, the course is quite interesting, the lecturers are accessible and materials are put in place to help.

I love the location of my hall. It’s very close to the city centre; a walkable distance. The management team is very good and they try to make our stay delightful. My only problem is the cost of laundry. I don’t think it’s fair for us to pay such amount of money ( almost £7) for laundry after paying such huge amount for the accommodation fees.
