Studying at the University of Aberdeen has been a very rewarding experience overall. One of the best things about the university is how well students are supported, both academically and personally. The facilities on campus are excellent. I have found everything I needed to support my studies and personal comfort. For example, I once had an unexpected moment during my monthly cycle and was genuinely impressed by how easy it was to access sanitary pads and even wash and dry my clothes in the restroom. It might seem like a small thing, but it showed how thoughtful and student-friendly the university is. Another thing I appreciate is the free student bus service. It makes commuting between the accommodation and the campus so much easier, especially during winter or on days when classes run late. It is a big help and something many other universities do not offer. Academically, the university provides a high standard of teaching. The lecturers are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely want students to succeed. I have had great interactions with staff, and the learning environment feels inclusive and supportive. The resources in the library, access to journals, online materials, and learning tools are also top-notch. There is a healthy mix of international students as well, which adds to the richness of the learning experience. You get to meet people from all over the world and learn about different cultures, even outside the classroom. The University of Aberdeen provides a wide range of support services, which is a huge advantage, especially for international students. From academic help to mental health resources, visa guidance, and financial advice, students have access to the support they need to succeed. The difference in programme structure between the January and September intakes is well designed to avoid delays; one group starts with coursework, the other with research, allowing flexibility in start dates. However, clearer communication about this structure before and during orientation would help students understand what to expect early on. Another benefit is the availability of student discounts and food outlets on campus. To make this even more impactful, it would be great if more affordable options were introduced or if existing discounts were extended further. With the rising cost of living, especially for international students, small financial supports like these go a long way in easing daily expenses. Overall, I have enjoyed my time at the University of Aberdeen. It is a safe, welcoming, and well-equipped place to study, with dedicated staff and a great learning environment. This level of flexibility helps reduce pressure during busy periods. In addition, the facilities are modern and student-friendly, with fully equipped labs, clean restrooms, and accessible student resources. Even simple but thoughtful provisions, like sanitary products in restrooms and places to wash and dry clothes in emergencies, make a big difference in day-to-day comfort and well-being.
