NTU is a great place to study as it has many separate places equipped with laptops for students to use in different locations. Alongside this, NTU offers many external opportunities for people to delve deeper into their courses, holding workshops and festivals where external psychologists come in and talk to students of NTU about their aspirations and how they got to where they want to be. They also offer many schemes that help to employ students while still at university, giving people many opportunities and opening their eyes to the kinds of job roles accessible to them from their degree. However, despite the many more good factors, I find that sometimes the quality of the lectures are not consistent and it is very hard to feel part of the course when actually at university, instead it makes me feel lost and confused as there is not much helpful information offered by lecturers in the many lectures that I have attended. To improve this, I feel the lectures should be more interactive and the students should be less separated from the lecture; having a more interpersonal environment helps students like me to feel more connected to the work they are doing. As NTU shows a wide example of their ability to create this type of environment in other aspects of the university, for me it would be beneficial to have this brought into the lecture hall to improve the level of teaching and retaining of information among students.

I believe that my course offers a wide range of knowledge and is highly informative to many issues and struggles for the evry day person in the world. However, I feel that from the second year of teaching the psychology students should be able to pick their modules as it would improve morale and learning levels. I also beleieve that, for different specific pathways such as the forensic psychology pathway, it should be mandatory early on to do a placement within the sector you are thinking of goinh into and offer a wide range of opportunities and exciting placements while almost pushing it onto students as many students are clueless as to what they will actually face in their professions after their degree. Alongside this, I feel the content is very heavy and having 2 hour lectures is not helpful in retaining any information as by the end of the lecture it is extremely hard to understand any more new information, meaning we are missing lots of material. I would also say that the layout of the exam period and how close together the deadlines have been for every year of my degree has created levels of stress that I have not witnessed with other courses that have had their exams and deadlines more spread out over time, for example having more things due in the new year to balance out the amount of exams and deadlines present in the march/April/may time. These things heavily impact a students morale and quality of output! Lastly, there is very limited chance to have contact with the lecturers and for such a heavy subject it helps to ask questions to solidify knowledge.

Such friendly stuff and so many societies to join that I’m always so busy and have a lot to do

I like the location of my halls but the thing I like least is that it’s is very messy and there is a lot of maintenance work in the building
