So far my experience at Northumbria has been amazing! The staff are fantastic, so friendly but also amazing at their jobs, and the facilities at the university make it even better.

Our facilities are brilliant at Northumbria. The library has recently had a huge makeover making it much better for students, and in general, the university is constantly improving its facilities to best fit with what the students are asking for. For example, the humanities students asked for changes to be made in the Humanities Hub, and within a couple of months they had made these changes for us.

Between the Students Union and the University itself, all measured of support are covered well. Academically, all lecturers offer office hours and are happy to go the extra mile to make sure that you have all the support you need. Or if you feel more comfortable, you can speak to one of the many reps in the SU who’s jobs are to help support the students as best they can.

The students union at Northumbria is fantastic. They have a student reps for every aspect of student life, and they make sure that every student is represented. They also hold lots of fun events to get people involved in the SU and to make new friends etc.

Very much so, all student accommodations are within a ten minute walk, and private housing is not much further. For local amenities Northumbria University is right in the heart of Newcastle City centre, so you have all the shops and amenities around you.

There are lots of sports and societies to join at Northumbria. There are societies for almost every interest, but you can also set one up yourself if you would like. However for sports it would be nice to see a push towards non-competitive sports where people can just go along to have fun.

I like the way that my course varies so much between the lecturers. You have a lot of freedom over what you would like to study, and you also get to experience many different teaching styles, all of which teach you new things about being a history academic. You also get to find out which lecturers you work best with. There’s nothing I can think of that I don’t enjoy about my course.

Our university has a brilliant careers team who will sit with you and talk about your careers options. Also in my department, local people within the heritage business were invited in to talk about their jobs and to give us advice on how to get into the industry. There are lots of guest lecturers and visitors at Northumbria to help you focus on your career. Also work placements are encouraged throughout the university, and for me, was an option as part of a module, which was a really valuable experience.

The experience here is amazing. You will be surprised by the benefits of being a sudent in Northumbria uni. The uni has various tie ups with different companies in various field, a lot of new people and amazing tutors to ask help from. Be prepared for the best experience of your life
