The overall feel is very welcoming and encouraging. I’ve been supported with all my enquiries and requests, and the staff in the LRCs are also incredible and very knowledgeable.
Facilities
How good are your college's facilities?
Normally it’s very good and we can access pretty much anything we ask for (though may take time for trickier requests). Have been a few issues with the canteen recently though (no hot water!) hence only 4 stars.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the college? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
Our first year was quite disrupted due to covid, with a lot of lessons moving online for periods of time, which isn’t ideal for acting. However, our tutor was brilliant in finding people to teach us online in a way that was useful and valuable. They also used the opportunity of online teaching to bring in people from all around the country, and the world, who we would otherwise never have had the chance to work with, albeit in challenging circumstances.
Now we are back to full time on campus, which is about 5 hours a day, 4 days a week, with clear directions on what work we are expected to be doing for ourselves in the time we are not on campus.
Our tutor will always find time to talk and help if needed, and is fully supportive. I feel very pleased to have made the choice to study here and to work with the people I am working with.
Career prospects
How does your college make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Our course tutor has worked hard to get our course officially recognised in the industry, which will make future career options easier to access

I came to Northbrook having had very bad experiences elsewhere. However, even if I had not had such experiences, northbrook would still have stood head and shoulders above any educational experience I have had. There was an environment of mutual respect and the unfaltering mission of our lecturers was to enable us to succeed and excel!
Facilities
How good are your college's facilities?
A mac for every student with Sibelius, Logic, East West sample libraries, midi keyboards etc. The Library really stands out though as it is like a fantastic treasure trove with a huge hoard of books on pretty much any aspect of music you care to mention!
I became interested in and was able to think and learn about music in ways I did not know existed.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the college? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Seperate student support was not needed for me even though I have a learning disability as the lecturers are real human beings rather than distant or unapproacheable as I have encountered elsewhere.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Never needed to use them
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
This is the real stand out part for me. I did the Music Composition for Film and Media Degree top-up. The lecturers were extremely good. Highly skilled, qualified, real world professionals who have a wealth of knowledge and experience. This they shared with us openly and without hesitation. From composition to production, business to promotion, everything was covered on this course. I only wish I had done my foundation years here! The lecturers went out of their way to enrich us both personally and professionally. We were supported, engaged, enriched, encouraged and enabled to take our work to ever higher levels. Stimulating, meaningful and inspiring debates about all aspects music touches on (film scores and scoring, production, composition, history, anthropology, ethnography, philosophy, science, culture, psychology and political, historical and religious influences on music). I came here having done poorly at school where study was basic, shallow and limited and left with a first class honours degree!
Career prospects
How does your college make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
We had an entire module on enterprise and career development which was extremely useful. We were taught about networking, self promotion, pitching, maximising our web presence and how to present ourselves professionally. At the time of graduating we all had websites which we had designed and built. As budding freelance composers the skills, knowledge and expertise shared with us on this course are invaluable and allowed us to leave as far better composers than when we arrived. As well as learning about the conventions of music in different applications we were very much encouraged to develop our own personal compositional style and individual voice. All this helps you to become more marketable and take control of your own career.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Worthing is cheaper than Brighton which is very close and £5.90 return on the train.
