The campus and city are wonderful places to be and there is so much going on. While the lecturers are friendly, I found mine to be dull and uninspiring, so much so that I transferred courses.

Great facilities multiple libraries and different types of study spaces. Location is great in the middle of the city so right in the center of it all. Lots of coffee shops and greggs if the uni food / study spaces isn’t what you fancy. Student support is good when you ask for it but you must ask for it. Campus is great has red brick feel however business school is really far away (like 15 min walk) so can feel a bit isolating when all your friends are on main campus. Student life is the best. Loads of societies to chose from and being in Newcastle the night life is insane. Plenty of pubs too if clubbing is not your vibe. Haven’t used the student union much so can’t really say but don’t think it’s the best. A good SU isn’t as necessary in Newcastle as it is in other unis as the city has so much to offer

Completely in class learning. About 15 hours a week (second year). Content is HARD and teaching can be a bit hard to follow. It’s not awful and you can keep up with it but could definitely be better. Some of the lecturers are FANTASTIC. Lecturers have office hours every week and they respond to your emails if you have any questions. Generally a lot of support with essays and stuff which has been useful. The business school is great for studying however slightly far from main campus (like 10/15 min walk) so keep that in mind as it can feel slightly separate. They give a lot of help with getting work placements doing workshops having companies in etc. And since applying for internships I’ve never felt like Newcastle has hindered me it’s well respected and I always get past the application stage even with the Big 4 so it is definitely a decent uni for grad opportunities.

Bit of everything. Night life is insane. Lots of pubs bars coffee shops etc. LOADS of Greggs. Think I pass like 4 Greggs on my walk to uni. Everything is pretty cheap especially if you get a student deal. Housing can be expensive depending on where you live (Jesmond is much more expensive than you’d expect for a northern city). Public transport is good have lots of buses, cycle lanes and a metro that goes pretty much everywhere you need. Also the city is the perfect size that it has everything but you can also walk anywhere you need to go as nothing is too far. Not the most diverse place compared to london for example but I think that is more the uni than the city. Very good choice of supermarkets too for your weekly shop. Shopping center in town is decent and the markets are cool. Close to Scotland so daytrips to Edinburgh are common. Also can get the metro for £1 to the beach with a pop card which is great!!

Portland green is linked to the uni but not actually owned by the uni. It’s basically given to people who didn’t fit into the halls. That being said I met some of the best people in Portland. Location is quite far from all the other halls but a plus side of that is you get to explore and live in a completely different part of the city so I feel like I’ve ‘done’ newcastle way more than people with halls in the city center. Social life is great too. Felt pretty safe apart from people shooting fireworks at our window and setting the outside bins on fire you know classic halls stuff. Wi-fi is fine never had any issues. One of the cheaper halls so good value for money. Maintenance are often quite slow and we did have a few issues with our flat that never got sorted or took ages to be sorted. However overall wouldn’t change it for a thing so glad I got Portland.
