Access to tutors

If you like a campus uni Lancaster is good for you. It is around 3 miles outside of the city centre but has everything you could possibly need, lots of food options and two shops with most things you could need, some things are a bit pricey but there is a good mix of options. Getting into town is super easy with regular buses from around campus. Lancaster City itself is not massive but has plenty of supermarkets, cafes, pubs and other amenities. The student union have started doing free food events and creating funding to help us out during this cost-of-living crisis. The facilities are good, for off-campus students, there are plenty of places to study that aren't the library and if you bring your own food there are several microwaves if you need them.

My course has been entirely in person, which is nice, and we have weekly Q&As as well to supplement our learning. My contact hours haven't been as many as I expected, around 10 hours a week ( 4 hours of lectures, 2 hours for each module at the moment, 3 hours of labs in total and the Q&As which are an hour each, I can have at least 3 of them in a week) but there is always something to be doing outside of lectures. The course does not entirely consist of lectures as we have labs, where we study research methods and statistics and are introduced to coding, this is difficult at the start but there is starting to be a lot more support for us as we study. We have a few deadlines dotted about the modules so you do need to keep on your toes. Most of the lecturers are really helpful and have our best interests at heart. You are assigned advisors which are like tutors so you do have someone you are in regular contact with and often your fellow coursemates are really useful especially if you are in the course group chats.

The campus itself is not that big so no matter what accommodation you end up in you will not have a long walk to your lectures and stuff. I was in a superior en suite which was advertised as being more newly refurbished, I will say the room and bathroom were slightly bigger than the standard en suite but the price difference wasn't exactly merited between the two. My kitchen was a good size with plenty of storage, you may have an issue with an untidy and problematic flatmate(s) but that is pretty normal. The accommodations managers are normally on top of issues and can get stuff sorted very quickly. I will mention that the walls are a little thin so you may be able to hear the people living around you but it's not really bad, that's just a heads up. All flats are provided with an iron, ironing board and hoover so you shouldn't need to worry about that and maintenance issues are often sorted pretty quickly.
