This course is quite dynamic and the experience throughout the year varies depending on how many in class assessments you have and when the assessments fall throughout the year. The course averages a higher number of on campus teaching hours than most others and there is also quite a bit of extra work that needs to be done also. That being said, the staff do try to support you whenever possible and if you are interested and happy to take on the workload this course can be rewarding and enjoyable. The universities largest society is the Kingston Uni Pharmacy Society (KUPSA) so there are plenty of other students to help you along the way, make friends and memories with!

The course currently has a blended approach with both on campus and online sessions. This works nicely as the lectures were recorded last year but are also available on campus also so every base is covered. One of the best parts is the on campus lab and teaching facilities. There is a pharmacy practice lab which simulates a community (shop) pharmacy. This is ideal as it provides a clinical setting simulation in which students can learn without the pressure of real patients. Its quite an open and positive learning enviornment. The lab facilities are also fairly good quality and there are a number of scaled down industrial machines where students can come and see how tablets and capsules are made. There are quite a lot of contact and study hours required on this course and they are essential to actually learning and progressing on the course. Not for the faint hearted but is definitely worth it and pays off in the long run if you are interested in a career in pharmacy, industry or pharmaceutics.

Kingston is a small-mid sized town with a good variety of bars, cafes and shops. There's the Bentall Centre that is high end, and high street shopping brands for shopping. There's Kingston riverside where you can rent little boats on the Thames in the summer. There are restaurants and bars on the riverfront. Richmond and Bushy park are directly beside Kingston which is perfect for getting outdoors. There's also a train that gets you to waterloo in 20 mins so if Kingston isn't enough you have the city on your doorstep also.

The halls are mixed between all students so its a great place to meet and make friends with people outside your course. They are quite safe as there is on-campus security. There is a free university bus that runs between the varies campuses and the town centre. The timing can be a little irregular on the weekends but otherwise is an ideal service. The kitchens are small but the rooms are not bad. Wifi and heating are great. Cleaning services are provided for a free also.
