Best. - some of the best things available at the uni are the facilities available, the library has every book I’ve needed to find, computers, quiet spaces as well as social settings. Not to forget the inclusivity of gender neutral bathrooms Lecture halls are good as they have dual screens so the entire class can see as well as microphones so everyone can hear well. The majority of teaching staff have been good too. The campus is aesthetically pleasing and gives a very modern look, with good food selection and options. Worst. - however the uni does have its flaws. Firstly the location at which the uni is feels far out from anywhere other than first year accommodation. Second year life is guaranteeing a longer walk near busier roads, where in bad weather is demotivating for students. However as this is out of control of student input it isn’t a huge issue. I think the subtraction of reading weeks is not a good thing as it doesn’t break the term up. Majority of students go home for Christmas burnt out with continuous work load. A week in between would either provide time to reduce work load or improve mental health for students, preventing being so burnt out by Christmas. Also teacher to student support hasn’t been great in my experience. I’ve had a 70/30% ratio of bad to good support. In specific modules we have different lecturers every fortnight or week, and it defeats the object of teacher feedback as communication with those professors is poor. Also more permanent members of staff, possibly out of no fault of their own due to their business as well, struggle with fast response to queries about the content of the lecture. However this does not discredit the teachers who maintain good relationships with the students and offer all the support they can. Furthermore, personal tutoring sometimes feels wasted. My personal tutors do the first 2 years of uni never contacted me and never met me, which is an aspect I feel that can be improved. I feel the student union needs to widen to a broader audience within the uni. Student union emails are sent so frequently they almost end up not looked at and going straight to junk. The best way to get a broader audience and contribution is utilise the in person contact, as the current system doesn’t reflect the entire uni opinion.

Nothing negative to say about placement. It was all sorted for us, proving sufficient information for peace of mind as well as confidence in the subject and keeping excitement for the career future. I do feel some of the modules included are just to fill space on a timetable. The lectures are repeated and aren’t explained to a point that seem useful within the course. Therefore lose attendance and interest. I feel the inclusion of contact hours on more course specific content will be beneficial for attendance and uni grades overall.

Good location, very poor facilities and an overall bad experience.
