Everything is great

My experience at Cardiff Met has been both fulfilling and challenging. One of the best aspects is the university's hands-on approach in programs like mine, where cyber security and IT students get ample opportunities for practical learning. I’ve been able to dive into Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges, real-world security projects, and network analysis, all of which have given me crucial experience and confidence in my field. Cardiff Met also has a strong community atmosphere, and I've enjoyed leadership roles in societies, which help develop my skills outside of academics. On the downside, there can be a lack of engagement in lectures. At times, it feels like some lecturers are just going through the motions—they arrive, present the material, and leave, without much interaction. I think students would benefit greatly from more involvement and guidance, especially in such a collaborative field. More personal engagement could make a difference in truly understanding complex topics.

In my course, there’s a strong emphasis on practical skills, which I appreciate, as it keeps learning relevant and engaging. Most of the teaching is done well, and the in-class sessions provide opportunities for interaction and deeper understanding, which is crucial in such a technical field. However, I’m not a fan of online lessons—I find them hard to stay engaged with, and personally, I think they should be gone . It’s also challenging when some tutors fall behind in covering the syllabus, as this creates gaps in our learning. Working on assignments becomes difficult when the necessary content hasn’t been taught yet.

The halls had a solid sense of community, making it easy to connect with other students. The setup was convenient for getting to campus and socializing, so it was a great place to settle into uni life.
