As a degree apprentice (mature student) I work full time and I am released for one day per week for my studies. This balance can at times be stressful and demanding, but offers the chance to get paid whilst I qualify in my vocational area, something that was essential for my particular circumstances. I feel well supported from the university and believe it to have first class facilities. As a full-time student I could only imagine what opportunity for advanced learning I could access, but with my pathway, I feel only able to grasp a taste of what is on offer. I feel far more qualified to speak of Chichester as a location. Having grown up in the area, I moved away to pursue my first degree and lived in a urban city environment for many years before returning recently with my wife and daughter. Chichester offers a safe, if somewhat boring, place to study. Initially it appears to be culturally competent with a breadth of arts, crafts and music offered by the theatre and various galleries. Scratch the surface and the absence of anything other than for the middle class and middle-aged becomes acutely apparent. A handful of pretty but dull pubs offset the one awful late night venue and those looking for night clubs need not apply. That Chichester lacks a live music venue is to its shame. Brighton is where you'll be wanting to spend your time but you'll wish it was closer and more accessible. It isn't.

The location of the uni is amazing; it's a whole community, and there are so many useful resources around the uni to help. To improve, I'd say maybe better communication between services around the uni (e.g., course leaders, admissions, student support, etc.), as I have experienced a few issues with little to no communication causing delays and misunderstandings with certain things.

A good amount of contact hours. useful resources available around the course. interesting lectures. Some things that could improve are the student voice, speed at which some modules could be taught, and better communication. more organisation.

Most: cleanliness, location, facilities (ensuit, study room, communal room, cinema room), estate manager. Least: time to replace damaged items, fobs sometimes not working, no lifts.
