I love all the staff and academic support Swansea University offers to the students. I wanted to go for a placement after my second year, but my course did not offer this choice. However, my academic mentor helped me with this, allowed me to go for a year in the industry, and supported me. My worst experience was only the lack of study spaces in the library and the cold inside the building, but I got used to it now.

I like how practical it is and how the modules are structured because we have a connection between economics, philosophy, politics, history, psychology and geography. The lecturers are charming people and cover a lot in our lectures. I always get help when I need it from them. Also, we have many assignments, but we get many sources that we can use, and it is not very time-consuming. The worst is that my course did not offer any year in industry or placements.

Swansea is very cheap to live in, and there are many accommodation opportunities. It is close to Cardiff, and there are bus and train services direct to London. Some parts of the city are unsafe for women and girls to walk around, and there are not enough graduate employment opportunities.

I could meet other students and live on campus, so I saved time travelling to uni, and my attendance was perfect. The cost was higher, the facilities were very old, and often the kitchen oven or toasters did not even work.

The best parts of the university is definitely the location - right opposite the beach whilst being sandwiched between beautiful Mumbles and the town centre. Perfect for many students - those who like to relax along the beach or a nice restaurant, or those who like to have a few drinks down the many clubs/bars down town. The university's approach to learning and support has been very commendable. The first semester introduced a blended learning style where seminars were in person, but lectures are recoded and uploaded online. The second semester will reintroduce in-person lectures, but still have them uploaded online too - that way we have the option to go in, interact with the students and lecturers or remain away if a student is more 'COVID conscious'. This was something students had been telling the university about - it wasn't the best being unable to interact with new students. It's great to see they have taken this onboard and have listened to our suggestions. My accommodation is much better than expected, with all amenities being up to standard, as well as cleaning and maintenance staff that always do a wonderful job if we need a hand.

So far, my lecturers have been very supportive, both in lectures and during their office hours. On top of this, each lecture has been super engaging and the seminars have been a great help to get my instead flowing outside of the standard lecture information. When my assignments have been marked, all the feedback was a constructive, as well as positives being pointed out too. Each lecturer has also advised that if you dispute a grade given, they're more happy to go through it over Zoom to see what your thoughts are. Each lecturer has a 1 hour in-person contact hour and a 1 hour online contact hour where anybody can walk in. However, I have had to just pop in to see them which was absolutely fine. Any time I have had to email a lecturer they have always responded promptly.

Overall, the accommodation is good from a university perspective - the rooms are a decent size, maintenance are quick to fix any issues, the cleaners do an excellent job every time, the kitchen space/amenities are good. The only thing that lets the university down are the elevators - be prepared to stop at random floors on your way to wherever you're going. If you're on the top floor (10th) like me, then you won't appreciate the university turning off the elevators every time someone in the building manages to set off the fire alarm - trust me, it's going to happen much more than you think.
