Everyone's really friendly, both at the University and throughout Lincoln, there's nothing to be afraid of if you come here - expect maybe the swans. The course is really great fun, there's loads of different avenues you can take with the skills we're taught, and though there isn't much time with the tutors, you get time with the other students on your course who give ideas and support as much as they make you laugh.

The Fine Art department is amazing! All the lecturers and technicians are always so helpful, they always want your ideas to be exactly as you want them and will work with you in order to achieve this! This is so important as an artist as having pieces as we have envisioned them is so empowering and emotional. However, the university don't support arts students as much as they do BSc students, and as materials for artworks do cost, it can be very difficult to be able to afford them. This can be disheartening especially as, for example, medical students get many benefits and all materials provided for them. Luckily, the lecturers are very understanding of this and recognise that this is something that is out of our control.

Having two intense days of face-to-face teaching time is great as it gives us the rest of the week to work on our projects and for this two days, the tutors are always on hand to answer any questions we have about our practice or our assessments. Even on our non-taught days, we can contact them and expect a response relatively quickly. Another great thing about the tutors is how much they support us as artists as opposed to just students, they help us with any outside opportunities that come our way and keep us updated on any professional development that could benefit us. The fine art technicians are always on hand too, to answer questions about the technicalities of any projects, to help us build canvases, and for helping us source any materials that we may need.

As with anywhere in he country, the cost of living has affected how students live. Since my first year at university in 2020, I have had to be more aware of my spending and prioritise my budgets accordingly.
