The teaching is top-notch, and the mix of historic buildings and modern facilities makes campus life unique. Plus, being so close to the Highlands and the coast is perfect for nature lovers. The career support and industry connections are also a huge bonus! Worst Bits: The weather can be a downer-long winters and lots of rain. How to Improve: better transport links, and a bigger focus on diversity would make a big difference. Also, adding more indoor social spaces could help balance out the weather!

I also enjoyed being part of a diverse community where I met people from different cultures and backgrounds, which broadened my perspective and improved my communication skills. Working on real-world projects and engaging with passionate lecturers helped me deepen my understanding of my subject and apply theoretical knowledge in practical ways. The most challenging part of university life was managing the heavy workload and coping with stress during exam periods and project deadlines. At times, the pressure to perform well academically could be overwhelming, and balancing coursework with other commitments was difficult. Despite these challenges, the experience taught me resilience, time management, and problem-solving skills that have prepared me well for future challenges.

The best aspect of my course in Cybersecurity and Machine Learning has been the way it combines two highly relevant and rapidly evolving fields. I’ve really enjoyed learning how intelligent systems can be used to detect and prevent cyber threats, as well as exploring practical tools for encryption, network defense, and ethical hacking. The course has given me strong technical skills and a deep understanding of how data-driven models can enhance security systems. Working on hands-on projects, such as building intrusion detection models or analyzing vulnerabilities, has been especially rewarding because it allowed me to apply theory to real-world problems. The most challenging aspect has been managing the complexity and fast pace of both subjects. Cybersecurity requires strong attention to detail and constant awareness of emerging threats, while machine learning demands solid mathematical and programming foundations. Balancing these two demanding areas especially when working on advanced algorithms or research-heavy assignments could sometimes feel overwhelming. Despite this, the challenge pushed me to develop better problem-solving, research, and time management skills, making the overall experience both intense and incredibly rewarding.

What I liked most about the university halls was the strong sense of community and convenience they offered. Living in halls made it easy to meet new people, especially in the first year, and form friendships with students from different courses and backgrounds. It was also very convenient being close to lectures, the library, and other campus facilities, which saved a lot of time and made student life more comfortable. Having everything from laundry to study spaces within walking distance made it easier to focus on studies and social activities. What I liked least about the halls was the lack of privacy and occasional noise. Sharing kitchens or bathrooms sometimes led to minor conflicts over cleanliness or schedules, and it could be difficult to find quiet time, especially during weekends or exam periods. The cost of accommodation was also relatively high compared to living off-campus. Despite these downsides, living in halls was a valuable experience that helped me adjust to university life and build lasting connections.
