In order to tackle whatever results day might bring, you’ll need to feel well-rested. One step to preparing for results day is to have a good night sleep beforehand. This is where our simple to-do list for a satisfying snooze will come in handy:
Sorry to sound like your parents here, but with little routine during the summer holidays, you’ve probably forgotten what it feels like to be in bed before 12am. However, it’s important to get sufficient sleep to allow your mind and body to fully unwind. You may need to practice going to bed early a few days before results day, as this could be a shock to the system!
Like many of us, you might be guilty of scrolling through Instagram or checking your WhatsApp messages right before going to sleep.
But studies show this can disrupt your sleeping pattern and prevent you from drifting into a dreamy doze. So, why not try reading a book instead? While relaxing, a book can also give you the chance to escape reality, which could help to take your mind off results day! Double win!
As results day creeps ever closer, you might be finding it difficult to relax and unwind.
Known methods to help prevent anxiety and stress include taking a bath, listening to music and going for a walk. Another therapeutic exercise is to write down how you’re feeling, so instead of bottling up all of your worries, you may find it more calming to express your thoughts on paper.
Seemingly obvious, but crucial for a smooth and enjoyable day. The last thing you want is to wake up late on results day with a flood of texts asking ‘what did you get in your results?!?’
To be on the safe side, you might want to set several alarms to make sure you definitely wake up on time!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or worried about your results, sharing your concerns with friends and family can help you to feel reassured.
At the end of the day, if you don’t make the right grades, it’s not the end of the world. If you do find yourself in this position, we’ve got plenty of useful advice on what to do next.
Worrying will not change anything
Your results will not define you or the rest of your life. If you don’t get the grades you’re expecting, it doesn’t determine how successful you will be in the future.
Results day is simply the start of the next chapter in your life.
