Charge Your Phone
Most phone batteries tend to last around a few hours (if you’re lucky), even less if you decide to play Candy Crush, upload a selfie or watch a cat falling off tables on YouTube. So make sure you charge your phone before you head out to get your results.
A dead phone leads to unhappy parents who don’t know your results within seconds of you knowing, annoyed friends because you can’t Instagram anything and a stressed out you if you need to

Put On Some Music
Listening to music can help calm your nerves, focus your mind and help you celebrate your uni place afterwards.
Practise Your Jump

Results day means one thing...lots of papers printing pictures of students jumping in the air, looking overly excited about an A4 piece of paper and smiling like the wind changed and their faces got stuck that way. It’s cring-worthy but it's tradition.
So just in case you get picked for the photo, or even if you fancy recreating one yourself, get some jumping practise in before results day. You don’t want to be ‘that’ person who barely gets off the ground, has their eyes shut and wears a smile that looks more like you’re chewing a wasp’s nest.
Don’t Check Social Media
We know it’s tempting to check all your social media accounts to see how other people did in their results, but trust us, it’ll just make the experience seem worse. To stop temptation, we’re going to tell you now what your timeline will look like....happy, sad, nervous, happy, sad, nervous, indifferent, sleeping, happy, nervous etc etc etc.
Try and stay off everything until you’ve seen your own results. Or at least scroll past your school friend’s statuses/tweets uber quickly if you really must check...
Download the Whatuni App
Did you know we've got an app? Did you also know that this app also lists Clearing courses? Well we do, and you can download it on the
or Apple Store ! Google Play
Make sure you're fully prepared for results day and browse the courses on our handy app whenever you've got a spare five minutes. That way should you not get the right grades (whether it's better or worse than you expected), you'll already have back-up plans in place and won't be panicking or end up in courses or universities that don't actually suit you.
Pick a Meeting Spot
Friends. They’ll be there for you, and you’ll be there for them too (especially if the rain starts to pour, because they’ve been there before). So it’s always good to pick a meeting spot and time with your friends, either pre or post results. That way you know you’ll have support, encouragement and hugs no matter the result.
Make An 'After-Results' Plan
The actual results getting doesn’t actually take that long, in fact it can feel like a blink and miss it moment when the day is over. So make the most of the day by having an after results day plan. Whether it’s going for dinner with friends, heading out into town or just playing computer games around someone’s house, make the day more than about the results. After all, this could be the last time you’re at this school with your classmates.
Worried about Clearing? We can help with that.
