Each year we collect around 35,000 independent and verified university reviews from current students. These reviews form the basis of the Whatuni Student Choice Awards – the only annual uni awards based solely on student opinion – to help you make informed choices.
The winner of this year's award for best students’ union is University of Sheffield.
“Very friendly and welcoming place. Lots of support from the students’ union. Also absolutely loads of societies, so no matter what you’re interested in, there’s a society for you. In particular, the Medsoc for medical students such as myself has been extremely helpful and run excellent revision sessions and socials.” – Student review on Whatuni

What to look out for in the students’ union at university
The students’ union is so much more than the SU bar and nights out. The SU represents students on important issues. Check out the SU facilities but also how the union represents all students. Does the SU run regular events? Are there designated places for socialising? Some of the most successful students’ unions make a positive difference both within the institution itself and within local communities through volunteering and other initiatives.
