If you’ve been given a conditional offer (as most students have) then it won’t be until results day that you actually know where you’ll be moving on to.
Unfortunately, each year there will be a handful of students who don’t quite meet the academic expectations required for their first or second choice of university. If this is the case, then don’t panic. It doesn’t mean you’ve blown your entire future, it just means that you might have to re-tweak your plans a little and apply elsewhere through Clearing 2024.
Clearing isn't just for students who missed their grades however. If you originally applied for a different course but realised sports science is for you, or you changed your mind about the university offers you accepted, you can use Clearing to find a different course. You can even use Clearing if you get better grades than you expected, or if you haven't applied to uni this year at all yet!
So basically, Clearing 2024 is open to any student wishing to study any subject, but who hasn’t managed to find an unconditional place of study they want to accept. However, it's also a very busy process and the quicker you manage to start ringing around academic institutions on the day, the stronger your chances are of getting accepted on to an appropriate sports science course.
With this in mind, it helps to be well-prepared before your results are published. Prior to results day, you should search for some alternative sports science degree options just in case. If the student experience is something you want to know more about, then you can read university reviews from past and current student, which should help you get a feel for your potential course (and help you narrow down your shortlist of places to contact on results day).
