Cheryl would have needed to make that Clearing call if she’d wanted to go to her local
to study Newcastle University . music
In fact she’d probably need to go back to school generally, as she left school at 16 with no qualifications at all. To be fair, she’s now worth around £15m, so she probably isn’t bothered about not having a Maths GCSE.
Jon Snow (no, not that one)

No, not the Game of Thrones guy, the legendary Channel 4 presenter. He’s now one of the most respected journalists around, but Jon Snow’s A-Level results weren’t exactly what he wanted.
He wanted to go to
school, but failed geography, and got a D and E in economics and law. In fact in order to get into university at all he physically visited the universities and asked for a place. Go on Jon! Law
The UK’s own Willy Wonka, Heston is one of the most ‘thinking outside the box’ chefs around. If anyone can turn your garden’s creepy crawlies into a dessert, it’s Heston (snail porridge anyone?).
But Heston didn’t do as well as he wanted in his A Levels, leaving with one A-Level in Art. Add on the fact he failed his science O Level (equivalent of GCSEs today), Heston changed his career goals and became a chef. Definitely a Clearing candidate. Certainly would have gone for some sort of
. hospitality qualification

While she can make an entire country laugh with her quick wit, funny jokes and engaging story telling, Sarah Millican would have had to go through Clearing if she'd applied for university after getting a D and E at A-Levels. 5 DVDs, a book deal and hundreds of tour dates later, we somehow think that Sarah probably isn't that bothered about her bad grades!

Mr X Factor, Mr owns practically every successful show on ITV, Mr Christmas Number One Guaranteed would also have needed to call Clearing.
He has GCSEs in English Language and Literature and Sociology, but decided not to do A-Levels, choosing to work in the mail room of EMI instead. We think he would have tried to study an evil genius degree so he could take over the world further.

Lizzy Yarnold is an extremely talented British skeleton racer and an Olympic gold medal holder. But when it came to getting into university, Lizzy had to go through Clearing as she didn’t get the grades for her first choice university.
But it worked out for the best as she went onto study
and Sport and Exercise Science at The Geography . And the rest, as they say, is history! University of Gloucestershire

The man who seems unable to write uncatchy tunes would have needed to use his charm on the calling line, as he left school at 16 to become a busker.
Although judging by his musical history, if he had gone through Clearing he would have definitely written a song about it.
