The Christmas Hamper. It's the perfect Christmas gift solution. Cheap to put together. Easy to make look really expensive and you can make one to suit any one of your famalam.

Now I’m not talking about one of those pre-packaged ones from the stores, as they are expensiveee. I’m talking old school, shoebox style, gifts for the family that will do in a pinch.  It’s so difficult to think of something unusual that our loved ones will actually want, so instead, I get the things I know my family like.

But how to make it special? Wrapping is key – get some colour-coordinated paper, glam up an old box, write a personable card, and the opening will bring a smile.

As for the gifts themselves, I’ve cooked a up a few ideas that each have a unique theme that will showcase your thoughtfulness…just don’t mention that it was all my idea…

The food hamper

A great one for the parents, combine all their favourite snacks into one thoughtful hamper that they will certainly appreciate. These hampers can include:

  • Wine (now you’re a student, you can show your *sophistication*)
  • Tea or coffee variety packs (to get them through your many phone calls with some new brews)
  • Cheese/chocolate (Sweet or savoury? Choose their favs!)
  • Funny flavours (Someone got a flavour craving? Try peanut butter hot chocolate, gin jam, or salted caramel crisps!)

The health hamper

We all have that one family member obsessed with healthy living to the point they'll barely touch the Christmas chocolates. These gifts will aid them in the quest for clean living and #goodvibesonly

  • Health food (KALE)
  • Lotion/essential oils
  • Reed diffusers (the safe candle, in case they drop off mid-meditation)
  • Motivational posters (to help them *find themselves*)

The artsy hamper

  • Letter stationery (so they can send a thank you card!)
  • Pens (as students, we know the value of these items)
  • Photo frames (so their works of art will be displayed in style)
  • Personalised mug (two functions – holding coffee or art supplies!)

The gap year hamper

Got a sibling who is planning to run away and see the world? Make sure they remember to call home with this hamper that will help them along their journey.

  • Friendship bracelets (so they don’t forget you)
  • Travel journal (so they can remember their time)
  • Eye mask/ear plugs (they are ESSENTIAL)
  • Ebook vouchers (for all those crazy long haul flights)

The variety hamper

Completely at a loss? Mix and match all of the above to make a hamper that has something for anyone!

  • Fun size chocolates (everyone’s gotta snack)
  • Soaps (everyone’s gotta clean)
  • Fidget cube (everyone’s gotta work… or procrastinate)
  • Mini diary (everyone’s gotta dream!)

And that’s all folks! You can head home with your hampers and a smug smile as you will end up with a happy family at Christmas time! Have a wonderful break, relax, take a beat, and start planning for some amazeball presents for next year 😉
