If you haven’t made your university application to UCAS yet, don't panic. There is still time to get organised, find your perfect uni and complete your application by the deadline of 29 January 2025.
To help make sure you don't miss the deadline, here's some advice from the team at Bangor University:
Complete your UCAS application
Applications are made online through the UCAS Hub website. You need to create an account with UCAS where you can fill in your application form and, as your application progresses, check its status. If you’re unsure how to go about completing your application, take a look at this video guide from the team at Bangor:
Writing your personal statement
Writing your personal statement is often the most challenging part of the UCAS application form. You have 500-550 words to express why you want to study the course and demonstrate why you should be offered a place.
Students who are successful in their personal statements are those who can demonstrate that they are actively involved in the subject, both in and out of school.
One way to do this is by giving evidence of further reading and going further than the syllabus of your A-level, BTEC or Scottish Higher course.
The next steps
Once you’ve submitted your application you need to keep an eye on UCAS Track as offers from universities will appear over the coming weeks. If you apply before the 29 January deadline you should hear back from all your university choices by May at the latest.
After you have applied to study at a university, you'll usually be invited to attend a UCAS Applicant Day sometime between January and April. Visit Days are a great way to discover more about the universities you have applied to and they can make all the difference when it comes to making your final decision on your Firm and Insurance choices.
Before you set off for an Applicant Day it’s a good idea to make a list of all the questions you want staff and students to answer and what teaching facilities or resources you would like to see while you’re on campus. You can also take a more detailed look at the accommodation options available and think about where you would be happiest living.
