As London’s leading university for civic engagement, we make a real difference to the lives of our students and communities around the World. We believe that individuals working together can be a positive force for change.

At UEL we give students the opportunity to take their education internationally. Our Going Global and Global Scholars initiatives actively encourage students to enhance their studies and develop different perspectives by collaborating with local and international communities to support them make a change for the better. In the last year, our students have been involved in projects in over 25 countries throughout Africa, The Americas and Asia.

UEL offers over 150 undergraduate degree programmes in a wide range of areas, including the arts, creative and tech industries, architecture, engineering and construction, cultural studies, social sciences, law, business, education, psychology, health, bioscience and sports. We work with employers and industries to develop our courses to ensure that UEL students graduate with not only academic qualifications, but the skills and experience that employers want.

Extended degree programmes - an excellent route if you don’t meet the normal entry requirements for the degree of your choice. Taking the extended route adds an additional year to a three-year degree programme.

Foundation degrees - aimed at increasing the number of people with qualifications in a wide range of jobs, and are especially geared towards the types of job expected to be created in the UK over the next decade, such as in healthcare, computing, etc.

Sandwich degree courses - including an extra year of work experience (or language training) between the second and third years of study. During the extra year you usually go on work experience with an employer, organisation or department in your subject field.

Study Abroad and Erasmus – the opportunity exists in most of our departments to study in another European country. Under the ERASMUS scheme UEL has student exchange agreements with different European countries.

Professional accreditation

Many of our courses offer accreditation by professional bodies, meaning you will gain, in part or full, a recognised professional qualification or membership of a professional body on completion of your degree. This means that not only will you gradaute with a degree but will be on route to complete a professional qualification at the same time, which are highly desired by employers.

Placements and work experience

Some programmes provide the opportunity to learn practical skills in a real-life setting. This can be during a sandwich degree, in which a year is spent in industry, or can be organised as part of your degree. These programmes provide valuable real-world experience which is highly attractive to employers when you graduate and can often lead directly to a job.

Staff expertise

UEL’s research and teaching is changing the world. Voted the top modern university in London for research and with much of our research voted as world class, we are committed to making a difference to global society.

Our programmes are taught by award-winning, industry-leading, UK and international experts. Our staff include world-renowned artists, Turner Prize-winner’s, recognised film-makers and authors, leaders of industry and internationally acclaimed researchers.
