“I’ve absolutely loved every minute of it. The course itself has been perfect for me, because of the challenges. It’s been fun, it’s been lively, it’s had that physical element that I love and there’s been the theory as well.”
“I would and have recommended the University of Derby, the teaching is great and the open door policy is second to none. I think Derby offers students a sound education and very good opportunities for progression and employment, staff definitely go that extra mile.”
Richard Gerver, BA (Hons) Theatre Arts
“Derby is a unique and exciting university at the heart of a special city; a place where everyone feels valued and anything is possible!”

Open Days are a great way to find out about starting a course at University and what University life is like. You'll also be able to have a look at our facilities, and speak to academics and current students about the course you're interested in, as well as learn more about Derby and Buxton.
Who is the Open Day for?
Undergraduate students - At the Open Day you'll be able to attend subject talks, as well as a welcome talk, finance talk and student life talk. You'll be able to talk to academics, have a tour of the University and the Halls of Residence.
Postgraduate, professional and part time students- You'll receive a one to one consultation at the relevant college stand. Just register at the postgraduate/professional welcome desk at the main reception, and we'll tell you where you need to go.
We can offer you halls of residence and University-approved private accommodation.
Halls of residence - Most first year students live in halls, they're just a short walk from our campuses and a great place to make friends. They offer you safe, good value accommodation with other students. If you’d like to have a look around our halls before you apply, come along to an Open Day.
University-approved private accommodation - If you’d prefer to rent a private property, we can help you find the right place through our registered private housing scheme. Together with the Council and the landlord, we assess all the properties registered so you can be confident they’ll be safe and comfortable.
