At Bournemouth University we want you to have an outstanding and personalised student experience. We do this by providing excellent teaching, facilities, professional practice, work placements and real-life consultancy projects.
Bournemouth University has a strong professional focus as well as ensuring high standards in academic excellence and graduate employability. We believe placements significantly increase your employability, and at BU every student has the opportunity to undertake a placement as part of their course, whether that is a 40 week placement as part of a four-year degree course, or smaller four-week placements within a three year degree.
We currently have more students on work placement than any other university in Great Britain, and therefore are extremely well prepared to offer you a great range of different and exciting placement opportunities. In the past our students have worked for a wide range of large international companies as well as smaller family run firms, these include: Disney, BBC, Sky, IBM, Panasonic, Chelsea Football Club, Olympic Developments Committee, Framestore Animation and many more.
BU values creativity, innovation, partnership and enterprise and offers somewhere to learn and socialise that is friendly, professional, inclusive and supportive. We are large enough to offer our students diversity, yet small enough for you feel part of a friendly and thriving cosmopolitan community.
BU is an institution on the up, following rises in four major university league rankings this year. Most recently, we’ve made the list of the top 500 universities in the world, according to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
What's more, we recently became the first UK university to have achieved a 'commended' judgement for the quality of student learning opportunities from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), the highest award possible. This demonstrates our commitment to providing you with high quality learning opportunities.
We're also proud that in the recent REF (2014), 96% of our research was rated as internationally excellent.
