Need to Know
We have over 47,000 active Alumni, active graduates who play a dynamic role in university life as volunteers, supporters and donors. Some of our well-known graduates include film director Lynne Ramsay, photographer Colin Baxter, MSP Tavish Scott, and BBC broadcaster Catriona Shearer. We also confer honorary degrees on distinguished individuals across a wide range of fields. Those recognised include Sir Sean Connery, JK Rowling OBE, Sir Bill Gammell, Prof Anne Glover CBE, Sir Peter Maxwell-Davies and Dr Lindsay Stewart OBE.

  • Modern facilities including a 500 seat computer centre - open 24/7 in our two main teaching trimesters,
  • A further 700 PCs and 150 Macs on campus,
  • Digital language, media and sports performance labs, including an environmental chamber and mock hospital wards,

  • Seven libraries, each relevant to the needs of students at that campus,
