Changes in health care provision have resulted in an emergent group of patients with complex needs who are acutely unwell but are nursed in general hospital wards. These patients present challenges that transcend the traditional medical/ surgical divide but do not/ will not fulfill traditional HDU/ ITU admission criteria. This course will provide the general adult nurse with the opportunity to develop and evaluate their specialist skills, critique their developing role, examine contextual issues, review current research enabling evaluation and synthesis in practice. This will facilitate the provision of quality outcomes for each individual patient. Further information is available on request.
