- Changes in health care provision have resulted in patients who are acutely unwell but are nursed in general hospital wards. These patients have multiple needs that cross the traditional medical/ surgical divide, but do not/ will not fulfill traditional HDU/ ITU admission criteria. Therefore this course will prepare the general adult nurse to initiate and manage safe and competent evidence based care for this acutely ill patient group during their journey through the hospital setting. This will facilitate the provision of quality outcomes for each individual patient.
