- This module will develop a critical understanding of the practice of cardiac surgical nursing and evaluate nursing interventions in surgical patients. Topics such as pre-operative assessment and cardiopulmonary bypass surgery will be examined and practitioners will have an opportunity to analyse the indications for cardiac surgical procedures (including transplantation). Patient management from the assessment stage through to discharge and rehabilitation will be explored.
