This qualification has been developed as a progression route, to follow on from Level 3 stitch courses offered at Eastleigh College and elsewhere. The course is studied over a period of three years, and those who pass the required modules will gain the Foundation Degree in Stitched Textiles.

All modules must be passed to achieve the qualification. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, monitoring and evaluating their own work and personal development. Students will develop skills that they can apply immediately within a work environment. This means working on both projects and assignments as an individual and in group situations. Students develop skills in problem solving, planning and scheduling, group work, team working, personal development, research, report writing and presentations. Throughout the course, students will keep personal journals to record personal development, design development and statements of intent. The knowledge and skills learned at this level will enable students to consolidate their knowledge, provide students with the confidence to develop their own practice, and enable them to either run their own studio or to further study on a BA course.
