In the UK, the standard first degree is a Bachelors degree with honours. Generally an Mental Health Nursing degree course usually takes three years full-time study while in Scotland an Mental Health Nursing degree course takes four years.

Degree Subject Intro: Mental Health Nursing

Whether studying for a three-year diploma or four-year degree, you must learn a core set of skills in your first year, before specialising in one of four areas: adult, learning disabilities, mental health or children's nursing. Courses comprise 50 per cent theory and 50 per cent practice in hospitals.

Nursing graduates are qualified to work in hospitals, community health centres, GP practices and mental health units. Alternatively, you could take a specialised course in midwifery.
