Degree Subject Intro: Medicine
A medical degree requires five years at university, then several more of on-the-job training with patients. Your first two years will be spent developing basic diagnosis and treatment skills and learning as much as you can about the human body. Your practical hospital experience begins in year three, year four will probably cover cardio-renal, oncology, general psychiatry and respiratory medicine, while your fifth year includes paediatrics, A&E, general practice, obstetrics and gynaecology.
