Degree Subject Intro: Hotel Management
The travel, tourism and hotel industries generate billions of pounds worldwide each year. To work in them you'll need excellent interpersonal skills and a sharp understanding of marketing. Work experience is expected - anything from spending time behind a bar to cleaning rooms will help.
The range of jobs available is potentially as broad as the public's appetite for leisure and relaxation. Further opportunities exist in tourism consultancy, working as a travel agent or as a holiday rep in an overseas resort.
