If students are interested in the wider world around them, concerned about questions of contemporary global order and justice, have a passion for world issues such as human rights and the environment and want to learn about the politics behind the international headlines, then the course is suited for them; the course aims to teach the skills needed to become a journalist, with a strong, unashamed emphasis on developing practical skills; the course aims to meet the exacting standards of UK journalism?s training authority, and to this end students study a broad curriculum which emphasises practical journalism, but also covers the vital areas of media law, public affairs, shorthand and moral and ethical issues.
